Apple TV+ unveiled a first look Tuesday at the upcoming fifth season of its Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning espionage drama Slow Horses. It stars Academy Award winner Gary Oldman. The “look” is just a photo of typically rumpled and dyspeptic MI5 section chief Jackson Lamb, Oldman’s character — but at least it comes with a premiere date. And it looks like he might be dining in a slightly nicer restaurant than usual. It even provides napkins.

The six-episode season will premiere on Wednesday, September 24. As usual, the first two episodes drop together. Then weekly releases follow through October 22, Apple TV+ said.

Update: Apple TV+ just released a new trailer for upcoming drama series Smoke. Clocking in at just over 2 minutes, the tense trailer pits two would-be allies — the Fire Dept. arson investigator played by Egerton and the Police crime scene expert played by Jurnee Smollett — against each other in a psychological game with a timer on it. When will the arsonists, whoever they are, kill again? And at least one of them might be Egerton’s character.

New ending makes Mythic Quest‘s final cliffhanger disappear

By

Apple TV+ canceled Mythic Quest
Charlotte Nicdao and Rob McElhenney starred in Mythic Quest. While Apple TV+ canceled the show, season four will get a new ending.
Photo: Apple TV+

In a shock to dedicated fans, Apple TV+ canceled Mythic Quest after the show’s fourth season. The gaming-oriented workplace comedy concluded March 26 with an intended season finale, not a series finale. So Apple greenlit a redo of the last episode’s cliffhanger ending so it will actually end the whole show. Now it’s out.

Update: Attention, bereft Mythic Quest fans: The new season four ending is now streaming with a revamped episode 10, “Heaven and Hell.” It officially ends the show, typing up some loose ends and removing some cliffhangers. Reshooting a series ending is a rare thing in TV, so at least you have some closure. And if you haven’t checked out the spinoff anthology series Side Quest, there’s that, too.
