Apple unveiled the black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2 at the “It’s Glowtime” event in September 2024. The new model brought no updates to functionality. However, the rugged “satin black” wearable became a cool alternative to the natural titanium model.
“Apple said the new Apple Watch Ultra 2’s finish is the created by a custom blasting process that makes the surface ‘extremely scratch-resistant and durable,'” Cult of Mac wrote when the new wearable came out. “The watch’s case is made with 95% recycled grade-five titanium, the same material used by the aerospace industry, according to Apple. It’s complemented by a matching dark zirconia back crystal.”

In addition, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in this deal features a huge amount of functionality. It offers up to 36 hours of battery life with normal use (72 hours in Low Power Mode). With up to 3,000 nits of brightness, it delivers “the brightest display of any Apple product,” according to the company.

The beefier design of the Apple Watch Ultra line gives it a look more in line with high-end timepieces or dive watches for scuba divers. (It works for that, too, as the Oceanic+ app turns Apple Watch Ultra into a dive computer.)
It’s an amazing smartwatch with a rough-and-tumble attitude that’s great for anyone, not just endurance athletes. Once you get used to the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s extended battery life, it’s hard to go back to the regular Apple Watch’s measly 18 hours of service without charging.
