Due to an Apple Siri class action lawsuit, most Apple users are entitled to receive up to $100 thanks to a settlement over data privacy. You just have to fill out a form online before July 2nd, 2025.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re eligible for a settlement if you live in the United States and used Siri between September 17, 2014 (when Apple released \u201cHey Siri\u201d in iOS 8<\/a>) and December 31, 2024. You can receive up to $20 per device, for up to five devices, if you\u2019ve ever accidentally triggered Siri in the middle of a private conversation or meeting.<\/p>\n

Apple Siri class action lawsuit: How to get your Siri settlement money<\/h2>\n

Apple has settled numerous class-action lawsuits in recent years, including cases involving its infamous butterfly keyboards<\/a> ($50 million); dodgy AppleCare replacements<\/a> ($95 million); iOS 9-related slowdowns ($20 million); stock-pumping statements about iPhone demand in China<\/a> ($490 million) and Batterygate, which Apple settled for $500 million<\/a> after claims of planned obsolescence. In most cases, the payouts were minimal to to everyone but the lawyers, and this case will likely be the same.<\/p>\n

How much will I get from the Siri settlement?<\/h3>\n

While you may get up to $100, the actual amount you receive will certainly be lower. Everyone who submits a valid claim will receive a share of the $95 million pool. It\u2019ll only take 950,000 people submitting the form for that $100 payout to start shrinking.<\/p>\n

How to get money from Apple Siri lawsuit?<\/h3>\n

To get started, go to www.LopezVoiceAssistantSettlement.com<\/a> and tap\u00a0Submit Claim<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To get your Claimant ID Code and Confirmation Code, check the email associated with your Apple Account. (If you\u2019re not sure what that is, go to\u00a0Settings<\/strong> and tap on your name at the top; the email address under your name is the email you should check).<\/p>\n

In your inbox, you should have an email titled \u201cLopez Voice Assistant Class Action Settlement\u201d from info@lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com. Check your spam folder if you don\u2019t see it.<\/p>\n

Fill out the Siri settlement form<\/h3>\n

Copy the claimant identification code and the confirmation code into the web form, then click Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll have to fill in your name, address, email and phone number.<\/p>\n

Select 1\u2009\u2013\u20095 for the number of eligible devices you have used between 2014 and 2024 which have accidentally triggered Siri. You can count models of iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, HomePod, Apple TV, or even iPod Touch.<\/p>\n

You can choose to receive payment via direct deposit or by an e-check to your email address. For the former, you just need to look up your bank\u2019s routing number and your account number.<\/p>\n

Then, you need to check the three checkboxes confirming that you used a device with Siri, live in the United States and accidentally triggered Siri at some point while having a private conversation.<\/p>\n

Finally, type in your name and click\u00a0Submit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Does the Apple Siri class action lawsuit mean Siri isn\u2019t private?<\/h3>\n

A contractor, paid to listen to Siri conversations for quality testing, broke the story. They reported to The Guardian<\/em><\/a> that they often hear recordings of private conversations and confidential meetings. This can happen when your devices think they heard you say \u201cHey, Siri\u201d when you haven\u2019t. It can also happen if you accidentally click the Digital Crown on your Apple Watch.<\/p>\n

A Siri class action lawsuit was filed less than a month later<\/a>. While Apple was always open about manually reviewing Siri recordings for testing, the plaintiffs argued that it was not fully outlined in Apple\u2019s privacy policy.<\/p>\n

Apple, before settling the lawsuit<\/a>, published an article<\/a> explaining how data is (and isn\u2019t) used. It \u201cnever used Siri data to build marketing profiles, never made it available for advertising, and never sold it to anyone for any purpose.\u201d It doesn\u2019t link requests to your Apple Account, either. Instead, the system uses \u201ca random identifier \u2014 a long string of letters and numbers associated with a single device\u201d to \u201ctrack of data while it\u2019s being processed,\u201d which is \u201cunique among digital assistants in use today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Siri is still the most privacy-conscious voice assistant \u2014 even if it\u2019s far from the best, most accurate and most useful.<\/p>\n
